Goal: A single lorry runs at full capacity, rather than two half-full lorries taking the same journey independently.
Pilots in this category aim to first identify vehicles that are transporting goods at less-than-full capactity along a similar route. Pilot partners are then able to identify opportunities where goods currently being moved in two separate lorries, can be combined into one, therefore removing a lorry from the road.
NexTrust has several pilots working within the LTL category:
Pilot 1.1. Multi Supplier- Multi Retailer platform: Four major Belgian biscuit suppliers consolidate their deliveries to four Belgian retail stores to reduce truck movements and to increase the truck's fill rate.
Pilot 1.4.1. Consolidation of LTL (principally temperature controlled food products) through a London Food Hub: The Cool Running logistic pilot has targeted toxic fumes and Congestion in London through use of a full electric refrigerated truck.
